Professor of Translational Gynecological Oncology; TOC Director; Head of the Gynecological Oncology Clinical Trials Unit.
Prof. Braicu is a leading physician-scientist focused on translational research in gynecologic oncology, particularly ovarian cancer. As the Head of Clinical and Translational Research in the Department of Gynecology at Charité University, Berlin, and leader of the Tumor Bank Ovarian Cancer network (the largest European biobank for ovarian cancer) her work centers on discovering predictive biomarkers and designing innovative clinical trials to improve personalized treatments for ovarian cancer patients. Her lab’s contributions include advancing systemic therapies to combat resistance to standard treatments, such as platinum-based chemotherapy and PARP inhibitors. She has authored over 200 scientific papers and conducted over 30 clinical trials as medical director at Charité and the Northeastern German Society of Gynecologic Oncology (NOGGO). Braicu is also a co-founder and leader of the translational research committee and the biobank within the European Network for Gynecological Oncological Trial Groups (ENGOT), playing a pivotal role in advancing clinical trials across Europe.
With over 15 years of experience, Braicu has mentored numerous MD and PhD students while being actively involved in global collaborations, including her current role as a visiting scholar at Stanford University.
